As a result of the 47.7 inches of rain that fell on our area from Hurricane Harvey, one to two inches of water flooded into most classrooms and offices at MKCHS. Crews have been at school since the day after the storm removing water damaged flooring and attempting to sanitize and dry out the building. Deductible costs and the cap on our liability insurance mean we will not come close to covering the cost of water damage remediation through insurance proceeds.
Many of our families have lost everything to the flooding, including their school uniforms, iPads, books and school supplies. Some of these families may temporarily have difficulty paying tuition. We are doing everything we can as a school community to assist them, and rest assured that all affected students will continue to receive a Kelly education, regardless of their families’ ability to pay.
Obviously, the unexpected expense of building repairs and the loss of revenue as a result of decreased tuition income presents a huge financial challenge to the school. Many of you have asked how you can help. Please consider making a donation to help cover the cost of building repairs and school related expenses for our displaced students. Any donation, no matter the size, will be greatly appreciated. And please continue to pray for our school, our Kelly faculty, staff and families, and for Southeast Texas.
