MKCHS’s advanced curriculum is formed on a solid base of foundational components while encouraging students to pursue a course of study that is both challenging and engaging. The Distinguished Plan also requires the completion of four of the following:
- Score of 3 on AP Tests
- College Courses – GPA of 3.0 or better
- A Score on the PSAT that qualifies as a Commended Scholar or Higher
Course placement is determined by teacher recommendation based on cumulative data and academic performance of the student.

Recognition as a Texas Scholar is earned by students completing high school courses that will provide them a fundamentally sound background for colleges and universities, regardless of the career they pursue. Our students are recognized as Texas Scholars by completing the graduation requirements for the Recommended or Distinguished Graduation Plan.
