The Voice of Kelly High School took Gold Awards in both of their categories at the World Strides Choral Festival in San Antonio this weekend. In the beautiful chapel of Our Lady of the Lake University, a panel of three collegiate judges, from as many different states, awarded them each a Superior rating for their performances, and complemented the choirs with highest terms in their critiques. Both the Treble Choir and the Concert Choir gave such stunning performances that they scored the first place plaques in their divisions. Kelly High School also won the Choral Sweepstakes Trophy and tied for the best overall score of the day in classification 2A.
Special congratulations to Sarah Hale, who won the Ovation Award trophy for most outstanding musician. This was given to the one student, choral or instrumental, from all the schools in the festival, who shows the most musical excellence and outstanding community service. The Choir celebrated with visits to the Alamo and to Six Flags Fiesta Texas and a wonderful dinner followed by a riverboat cruise on the historic Riverwalk San Antonio.
The Voice will next be competing in similar fashion at the TAPPS State Choral Meet, in four different categories, at the end of April. We are proud of you, Kelly singers, and wish you Godspeed at TAPPS!
