Greetings Kelly community. My name is Blake Krause and I am excited to be the new campus minister. My family has lived in Beaumont for almost a year and we
are originally from Canada. My wife is an engineer for Exxon and my daughter attends pre-k 4 at St. Anne’s. We are members of the St. Jude parish community and have learned to love the heat versus the snow.
As Campus Minister I help coordinate the all school masses, weekly celebrations, retreats, Catholic Schools Week, Spring Into Action, and our service hours. We have a few initiatives that I want to share with everyone:
This year our faith theme comes from the Gospel of Matthew 7:24-25, “Be Built on Rock” as Jesus teaches that a person who listens to His words and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The house built on rock can weather the storms and tribulations of the world. Each month we will focus on a different aspect of being “Built on Rock”. For August we have focused on prayer as the first way to be built on rock. By creating a strong prayer life, we are better able to hear Jesus’ words and then act on them. To support this we have led prayer activities in the chapel, we are updating our daily prayer book, and we have begun Monday morning Rosary before school. At the end of August, we will lead a lunch time activity related to Built on Rock. On twitter, follow the hashtag: #kellybuiltonrock to see some of the different activities.
We are also starting a monthly Youth Ministry Night that is welcome to any current Kelly student. We meet from 6-9 in the cafeteria. There will be food, games, and fellowship. Our first one will be Aug 25 with the theme of “Messy Olympics”!
I look forward to working with all of the students this year!
In Christ,
Blake Krause
