Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Kelly,
Congratulations to the 108 seniors who will be graduating in a few short days. They are truly a diverse group of individuals who have been blessed with talents, gifts and abilities from God. I want to thank all parents for making the sacrifices necessary to provide a Catholic education for them. Please join us in celebrating their accomplishments at the Baccalaureate Mass at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica on Friday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. and at the Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, May 18 at 4:00 p.m. in the Beaumont Civic Center.
We are continuing to register students for next year. At last count, there are still about 25 current students who have not registered for next year. We continue to review applications for incoming 9th graders, as well as older transfer students. If you know a high school aged student/family, I encourage you to speak with them about the benefits of Kelly High School and a catholic education.
Our next, and last, All-School Mass of the school year is Wednesday, May 8 at 9:30 am in the Centennial Complex. Please join us as we continue to celebrate the resurrection!
Congratulations and best wishes to both Baseball and Softball. Both have qualified for the play-offs! As I write this column, the baseball team has already won their 1st play-off game and will play again Thursday, May 9 in Conroe (depending on weather). Softball is playing their 1st play-off game today in San Antonio.
Kelly High School and all the Catholic schools in the Diocese will be changing to Mills Uniform Company as the authorized uniform provider next year. As I’ve written in the past, many families experienced problems with orders from Hilfiger and it became apparent that they were not a good choice for us. Kelly High School will be returning to the blue and green plaid skirt we’ve used for years. Because it was not available from Hilfiger, we substituted the blue and white checked skirt this past year. Because many families purchased that skirt we will continue to allow it to be worn for another year; however, please check the skirt length. For some reason, that skirt tended to be too short in many cases and it does not have any hem to let out. If you have one and it, or any skirt, is too short please discontinue wearing it. Skirt length, as stated in the Student/Parent Handbook, should be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee.
Mills has stores in Houston, as well as, an ‘800’ number and website ordering capability. They are planning on being at Kelly for a few days during the summer for fitting/ordering opportunities as well. As soon as those dates are finalized we’ll send out a notice.
Senior Exams will take place during regular class time Monday – Thursday, May 13-16. Graduation practice is Friday morning, May 17 at 10:00 am in the Centennial Complex. Baccalaureate Mass is Friday evening, May 17 at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica and the Commencement ceremonies are Saturday, May 18 at 4:00 in the Beaumont Civic Center.
Final Exams for 9th – 11th graders will be Tuesday – Friday, May 21-24. There will be a special exam schedule created and announced in the near future.
During the summer, the school’s office will be open with reduced hours every week except the 1st two weeks of July. Office hours will be 9:00 am-2:00 pm Monday to Thursday and closed July 1-12.
Have a very blessed and holy Easter Season.
