Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Kelly,
Fall has begun, at least according to the calendar. Football and volleyball are in full swing. Basketball and soccer begin their seasons in a few weeks. The reason for athletics in high schools, particularly Catholic high schools, is to try to teach and instill the virtues of hard work, good sportsmanship, fair play, teamwork, and friendly competition. There is no room for name calling, threats, violence or any of the other reactions we’ve all seen news reports about. Always be aware that as members of a Catholic school community, we are expected to always treat others with courtesy and respect.
PSAT/Pre ACT Test Day: On Wednesday, October 10, we will administer the PSAT test to all students in grades 9 and 11. Students in grade 10 will take the Pre-ACT. Students should report at the normal school starting time, in school uniform, and will be dismissed at approximately 11:45 a.m. for the day after the testing is concluded. Seniors have a school holiday, except for those in the Lamar dual-credit program. They still need to attend their Lamar class at 8:15 a.m.
All-School Mass: Our next All-School Mass is Wednesday, October 17 at 9:30 a.m. in the Centennial Complex.
The 1st Grading Quarter ends on Friday, October 12. Report cards will be available for pick-up by a parent on Thursday, October 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the Counselor’s office. Teachers will also be available for short conferences concerning 1st quarter grades for interested parents.
