Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Kelly,
The New School Year – We have already completed 4 weeks of school! The year seems to be ‘flying by’. We are now about half way through the 1st grading quarter. Be sure to check the Portal to see current grades.
Harvey Update – The final flooring was laid in the main school building this past weekend. This week, the workers will be touching up the new paint to eliminate the ‘nicks and dings’ caused by moving furniture and equipment as they were working on the flooring. By this weekend, everything should be completed except the old gym, but it’s close!
School Uniforms (repeat from last time) – Some families have reported ordering and delivery issues with Hilfiger, our new uniform company. We have been in close contact with our Hilfiger representative who assures us they are working to address the challenges as quickly as possible. If you have uniform difficulties, please contact Mr. Krause.
Football & Volleyball – Both football and volleyball are going strong and are in the midst of their seasons. Come out to a game and cheer on the Bulldogs! Check the school calendar on our website for game times and locations. Please remember that athletics is an important tool for teaching students the values of hard work, good sportsmanship, fair play, and team work. Name calling, cursing, and worse have become all too common in today’s sports world. Parents and students are always expected to act appropriately at sporting events and all school activities.
All-School Mass – Our next All-School Mass is Wednesday, September, 12 at 9:30 a.m. in the Centennial Complex and you are welcome to join us. Father Malain also says a short Mass every Friday before school in our Chapel at 7:20 AM. All are invited to attend.
Freshmen Retreat – The Freshmen Retreat is Wednesday, September, 19 at St. Jude Catholic Church on Gladys in Beaumont from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students should be dropped off and picked up at St. Jude Church. Students who ride the bus from Orange or Port Arthur will be taken to and picked up at St. Jude by the bus. Any freshmen who are unable to get to St. Jude on their own may ride the bus as well. They will need to be at Kelly by 8:00 a.m.
As we move toward fall, please say a prayer that we are spared the difficulties of another hurricane and that those who may experience one are only mildly inconvenienced and spared major damage.
Blessings,
Roger S. Bemis
Principal
