Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Kelly,
The first grading quarter is now complete and the year seems to be flying by. Please come by Thursday, October 13, 3:30- 5:30 pm for “Report Card Night”. Report cards will be available in the Counselor’s Office and teachers will be in their classrooms. Report cards will not be released to students. If you would like to stop by to visit with a teacher about a grade, please feel free. Report cards not picked up on Thursday will be mailed on Friday, October 14.
October 13-15 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), Kelly’s Drama Dept. will be presenting “Hairspray” beginning at 7:30 pm each evening. Tickets are $7.00/$10.00 for students/adults. I hope you are able to attend one of the performances as we showcase some of the acting and musical talents of our students.
Wednesday, Oct. 12 is our next All-School Mass beginning at 9:20 am in the Centennial Complex. Please join us. Bishop Guillory is scheduled to celebrate with us that day.
This week, parents will receive an e-mail from the Policy and Planning committee of Kelly’s school board. The Committee is requesting your input and suggestions, as they are updating the Long Range Strategic Plan of the school. Your feedback will help guide the board and school administrators in the improvement of the school community. Your participation, as always, is greatly appreciated.
Wednesday, Oct. 19 Kelly will administer the PSAT for all 9th, 10th & 11th grade students. The PSAT is in a similar format to the SAT so students will have the opportunity to become more familiar with the test layout. 11th graders’ scores are used to determine National Merit Finalists. 12th graders have the day off, except for those students in the Lamar program – they will have their Lamar class as usual.
This past Friday was an Early Release Day for all the Catholic Schools. As part of our In-Service that afternoon, Kelly teachers met with many of the feeder school junior high level teachers. They reviewed and discussed curriculum topics to better assure continuity and alignment between the feeder schools and Kelly High School.
As the fall season brings cooler temperatures, let’s all be thankful and remember that God blesses us in so many ways. May we always be aware of and thankful for those blessings.
In His Name,
Roger S. Bemis
Principal
