Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Kelly,
The weather has turned cooler, at least a little bit, and the feel of autumn is in the air. Football and Volleyball are drawing to a close and Basketball and Soccer are getting started. Remember that the purpose of athletic competition in Catholic Schools is to teach the virtues of good sportsmanship, team work, healthy competition, and the ability to deal with adversity. In our society there are often stories of unruly fans, coaches or players who lose control, and other situations totally contrary to the purpose of athletics. Please remember to always act in appropriate ways, remembering you are representing your family, your school, your community and your God.
Congratulations to Sarah Hale & Colin Cormier who were selected as members of the Region X All-Region Choir. They will be participating with the best choir students from our area next week at the All-Region Choir concert Tue., Nov. 1 at the Julie Rogers Theater. These students were selected earlier this semester through competitive audition from more than a thousand choir students.
Also on Tue., Nov 1, we will hold our next All-School Mass at 9:20 am to observe the Solemnity of All-Saints. Each year the Church holds this special celebration to remember all who have been identified as Saints. Please join us.
All the seniors will travel to the Texas Renaissance Festival on Wed., Nov. 2. In order to participate in this trip, seniors must return a permission form signed by their parent, and have completed and submitted all information through Rank One so that emergency medical information is available should a situation arise. Seniors who do not take care of this paperwork will not be able to travel and must attend school as normal.
In the next few weeks, Mrs. Henderson and her student ambassadors will be visiting our feeder schools to talk to students about coming to Kelly for high school. As we begin “planting seeds” for the future, I ask you to talk with other family or friends about sending their child(ren) to Kelly. Tell them why you made the decision to send your children and why you continue to make that decision. Personal recommendations are always the most effective.
May you always recognize God and His many blessing in your life.
