Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Kelly,
During the season of Lent, we are all asked to pray, to give ‘alms’, and to perform works of charity or mercy. Through these three acts, we are called upon to become more aware of those around us who are in need and to change our lives in a positive way because of that awareness. May you have a very blessed and holy Lent.
The new ‘ParentsWeb’ is now active and will provide the same information as was available through Parent Portal previously; grades, attendance, assignments, etc. Instructions on creating an account and log-in were sent a few weeks ago, but those instructions can also be accessed under ‘Community’, then the ‘Current Parent’ tab of the school’s website at mkchs.com.
Kelly HS will be using an on-line application and re-enrollment process for next year. In the next couple of days, you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to complete the online re-enrollment process. These instructions will also explain how to set up ParentAlert and FACTS accounts, which are required for online re-enrollment. Please note, everyone will need to set up a FACTS account, even If they normally pay tuition in one or two lump sums. Tuition can still be paid in lump sums to the school, but miscellaneous fees, like the re-enrollment fee, will now go through FACTS. The re-enrollment fee must be paid at the time of re-enrollment and increases on April 1.
After meeting with and evaluating a number of uniform companies, the diocesan Catholic School principals have selected Tommy Hilfiger as the new uniform provider. We were very impressed with the quality of the garments they offered, as well as the pricing, which in many cases was less expensive than Parker. While they are primarily an on-line company, they will offer a sizing event this summer during which your son or daughter may try on various items to be sure of the sizes. It will take a few weeks for Tommy Hilfiger to prepare our inventory. We will distribute ordering information as soon as it is made available to us.
Monday, Feb. 19 is a Staff In-Service Day. Students have a school holiday that day!
The Diocese of Beaumont has hired a consulting group who is leading us through the process of obtaining FEMA grant funds to help with Harvey repairs to the school. Twenty+ parishes, three schools, and the Holy Family Retreat Center were damaged by the storm, some locations severely. As you may know, most floor tiling and carpeting was removed from Kelly HS because of storm water intrusion and we are functioning on concrete floors. While the FEMA process is slow, we have been told by the consultants that it will be well worth our time and patience once we receive the FEMA funds. The last update I received was that it is realistic to plan on installing new flooring this summer.
As soccer and basketball seasons wind down baseball, softball, track, tennis, and golf are just getting into full swing. Please check the school’s calendar for games or meets and come out to support the Bulldogs.
