Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Kelly,
Here we are in early February with temperatures in the 70’s nearly every day. Where’s our winter? Can you tell I like the cold, at least for a while? It seems like “Happy Spring” is in order.
Congratulations to Sophia Manibo who will be signing her letter of intent today at 2:30pm in the IC to play soccer next year at Lamar University.
Congratulations to swimmers Kelvin Elgar, Diego Barrutia, Elijah Vigil, and Samuel Mazratian, and to their coach Jason Desmarais. These four students performed well enough at the recent TAPPS District Swim Meet to advance to the State competition. Best of luck!
Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball and Soccer are involved in the “race” to finish district play and improve their district standings. Check the school’s calendar for home game times over the next week or so as they all complete district play. Come out to cheer on the Bulldogs!
Baseball and Softball are beginning their seasons as well. Check the school calendar for home games!
Taylor Henderson, our Admission and Recruiting Director, has been offered and accepted a wonderful opportunity at Lamar University and will be leaving us on Feb. 10. While I am sad to see her go, I am excited for her and her new opportunity. Madelyn Messina will be stepping into the role of Admission and Recruiting and we are now in the process of looking for a new Director of Development.
On Thursday, Feb. 16, we will hold our Prospective Parent Open House from 6:00pm to about 7:30pm. If you know anyone who is a current 8th grader or even a 6th or 7th grader who might be interested in Kelly High School, please tell them about the Open House and invite them to attend. Please contact Mrs. Henderson or Ms. Messina for information or to let us know who to expect.
The Kelly Band will be traveling to Orlando to perform at Walt Disney World Feb. 23 through Feb. 27. Please pray for a safe and enjoyable trip for our band students!
Kelly Cheerleaders will be competing in a national competition Feb. 17 & 18. Good luck to the squad!
Monday, Feb. 20 is Presidents’ Day. There will be no school in observation.
The juniors will be on retreat Wed. Feb. 22 at St. Jude Catholic Church here in Beaumont. More information will be provided by Mrs. Gould, their Theology teacher.
Join us for daily Mass each Friday morning at 7:20am in the chapel across from the front office!
Don’t forget your re-enrollment paperwork. The registration fee goes up at the end of March.
Blessings,
Roger S. Bemis
Principal
