Where can I get a list of school supplies?

• Every student’s course schedule is different, and it is therefore impossible to make a list of materials needed by every student in each grade. Students should bring a notebook, pens and pencils, and their iPads during the first few days of classes and each teacher will then share a school supply list during each period.

Where do I buy uniforms?

• Uniforms can be purchased online at https://www.millswear.com/school/8701. Gently used uniforms that have been donated back to MKCHS by former student parents are also available in our uniform exchange closet. Please contact the MKCHS office for dates and times of when this collection is available.

What is served during lunch? Can you bring your own lunch?

• Each day the Kelly Café offers a variety of foods each day, and the hot meal options vary from day to day. A typical day’s menu may include items like hamburgers, chicken strips and French fries, spaghetti, or nachos. There is also a salad bar available daily that serves wraps, soups and sandwiches, and the monthly cafeteria menu can be found on our website at any time. Many students do choose to bring their own lunches and microwave ovens are available throughout the cafeteria for student use.

What if my student needs extra academic assistance?

• Teachers arrive at school at 7:30 every morning and remain on campus until 4:00 each day. Students may arrive before or stay after school to speak with their teachers. Typically, teachers have parent meetings, or are utilize these times to prepare for classes. It is a good idea to make an appointment with the teacher that your student wishes to visit with.

How do I view my student’s grades?

• MKCHS uses an online PortalPlus program that allows families to view current grades, homework assignments, discipline referrals and any accumulated demerits a student may have. Log-in instructions are given to students and parents at the beginning of each school year.

What happens if my student is sick and can’t attend school?

• The MKCHS attendance guidelines can be found on the Kelly website in the Student Handbook. Student attendance is an integral part of your student’s education and is necessary unless your student is drastically injured, ill, and/or contagious to other students. If your student must be absent, please speak to Mrs. Walter in the attendance office and send a doctor’s note with the student when  they return. This note will be added to their attendance record. Even when absent, students are still required to complete all classroom assignments, so please speak with the counselors if circumstances prevent your student from returning to school within a normal period of time.

What do I do if my student needs to leave school early?

• If your student must leave school early, please contact Mrs. Walter in the attendance office to let her know of the date and time of their early release. If their early release is due to a pre-scheduled doctor’s appointment, we ask that the student visit with their teachers during break of that school day to gather any work they may miss in their absence.

• Cada estudiante tiene sus propias clases y profesores.  Por lo tanto, es imposible hacer una lista de materiales. Los estudiantes deben traer un cuaderno, lápices, bolígrafos, y sus iPads durante las primeras clases y después, cada profesor les explicará a los estudiantes que tipo de material requiere para su clase. Algunos estudiantes prefieren tener dos mochilas para organizarse de una manera mas fácil. De esta manera tienen una mochila para cada día. (Gold day/Blue Day)

¿Qué sirven durante el almuerzo? Se puede traer su propio almuerzo?

• Cada día la cafetería ofrece una variedad de comidas como hamburguesas, tortas de pollo, papas fritas, y más. También sirven un almuerzo diferente cada día. El menú se puede encontrar en la pagina de internet de Kelly. Muchos estudiantes traen sus propios almuerzos y hay hornos de microondas en la cafetería para calentar sus comidas.

¿Dónde puedo dejar y recoger a mi estudiante?

• Estudiantes pueden llegar a la puerta principal enseguida de la biblioteca (IC) o en el estacionamiento grande al oeste de el edificio principal. Para recoger a su estudiante, por favor espere en una línea en el estacionamiento para dejar espacio a los carros que van y vienen.

¿Cómo puedo ver las calificaciones de mi estudiante?

• Kelly HS usa el programa de internet PortalPlus que es diseñado para permitir que los estudiantes y los padres vean calificaciones, tarea, asistencia, y disciplina. Instrucciones para entrar al programa se van a dar al comienzo de clases.

¿Qué ocurre si mi estudiante se enferma?

• Las reglas sobre asistencia están detalladas en la página de internet de Kelly.  La asistencia del estudiante es íntegra y necesaria. Si su estudiante tiene que estar ausente, por favor hable a la oficina y mande una nota con el estudiante para poner en sus archivos. Los estudiantes tienen que completar sus tareas y trabajos cuando regresen. Hable con las consejeras si ocurre un caso especial y su estudiante tiene que faltar a clases mucho tiempo.

¿Qué hago si mi estudiante tiene que irse temprano de la escuela?

• Hable con alguien en la oficina para saber si estudiante tiene que irse y a que hora va a regresar.
