Hello Kelly Families,
Can you believe it is March, and closing in on the end of the third quarter of school! This week noticed brighter mornings, spectacular sunrises, and chirping birds as I got in the car to come to school. It’s amazing how these small things lift my spirits. It has been a long, hard winter, and a long, hard year, but I am beginning to have glimmers of hope. COVID numbers have improved locally and nationally, and Beaumont is improving vaccination efforts. This coming week, we will have our first normal five day week in a while! Maybe, just maybe, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Desmond Tutu said, “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” When we are in the trenches of tests, papers, projects, and ice storms, it is not always easy to remember. Indeed, it does make the days easier when we acknowledge that there is light. I hope we can all take some time in the coming weeks to look for the light and to focus on the things we are excited about. Let’s bring hope into our lives and the lives of those around us. Beyond that, let’s take our hope, turn it into action and make good things happen!
March 12, 2021 marks the end of the third quarter. Please thoughtfully review the report with your student(s). Look for and celebrate successes and determine if there are areas that can be improved on. It’s often hard to stay motivated during the third quarter. Set realistic goals that can be achieved by the end of the semester.
With Spring Break just around the corner, many families are considering travel in the near future. Please remember, travel can increase the risks of spreading COVID. If you choose to travel, please be diligent in COVID safety protocols— social distancing, handwashing, and wearing masks when you are with people other than household members. If you are unable to maintain these protocols, please consider one of the following options: 1) notify the school that you are choosing to distance learn and quarantine for 14 days before returning to school or 2) wait five days after your trip, get COVID tested (PCR) and receive negative results prior to coming back to school for face-to-face instruction. Again, these suggestions are requests to keep our community healthy and to do all we can to keep the school building open and as many students in class as possible.
