Greetings in Christ Monsignor Kelly Catholic School Family,
This is certainly one of the best times of the year. I want to express my sincere appreciation for all of the support and effort we are receiving from our Bulldog Nation. We have so many great things taking place at our high school and we are moving forward in a big way!
Our enrollment is holding steady at 341. Through the work of our staff, we are excited about the potential for increased enrollment. Our marketing plan is not only ambitious but exciting. We are also thankful for our school board, volunteers, and their efforts. With the support of our booster club, Friday nights at Bulldog Stadium have evolved into a great opportunity for fellowship. It has been great watching our Dawgs play, and our cheerleaders, KDF, and band perform. We are excited about our homecoming and celebrating 125 years of Catholic education in Beaumont. Homecoming week is something that is very special to our Kelly community. Alumni come from all over the state and nation to take part in our Block Party and the other activities planned during the week.
Although we have faced challenges related to COVID-19, our mask mandate has been a complete success. It is great seeing our students in class learning, continuing to form in their faith, and participating in other school activities. On the academic side, we are continuing with our focus on active learning. The ability of our teachers to impart critical thinking skills and problem-solving across the curriculum is preparing our students for college and university-level studies and beyond. Our English department has been focused on aligning Writing standards throughout the department. Flex Friday has become the asset that we knew it would be. Making time for clubs and organizations, make-up work, and tutoring, along with college and career prep activities has been invaluable.
There is continued momentum with regard to construction and aesthetic projects around our school. The renovation of the concession stand at Bulldog Stadium has been completed. It has a fresh new look and we have already received many compliments. The replacement of the glass windows in the foyer between the old gym and the cafeteria is underway. New glass has been installed on all classroom doors. The new AC units for the attendance office and the main hallway have been installed. As for the grand finale, the rejuvenation of the baseball complex is underway. Updates include the addition of turf, updated lighting, and a newly renovated dugout. Special thanks to everyone who had a hand in this great effort.
Finally, I want to recognize our families and friends that have and will continue to make Kelly Catholic High School a shining star. These are exciting times and I am honored to be leading MKCHS. May God continue to bless our school community.
Interim Principal MKCHS
