Bishop Toups has appointed Mrs. Gina Harris to the position of President of Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School. With thirty-eight years of experience in Church ministry, administration, and religious education, and having served as the Theology Department Chair at the school, Mrs. Harris is a well prepared and trusted leader who will excel as Monsignor Kelly’s first president. In addition, her prior experience in the business sector has equipped her to boost the school's presence through marketing and advocating for the betterment of the school on all levels.
“The creation of the office of President is a necessary step to take Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School to the next level and at the same time preserves its rich legacy,” Bishop Toups said. “President Harris is the perfect person to fill this role at this time; both she and the principal, Dr. Tyrus Doctor, have expressed their excitement about working together for the good of our school.”
Upon accepting her appointment as the inaugural president, Mrs. Harris stated, “I am passionate about the success of Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School. The value of our school in Southeast Texas is vital. I look forward to serving the students, parents, and faculty. My priority is to promote a loving faith-filled academic community, as we work together to fulfill our mission of fostering faith and providing a rigorous college preparatory education.”
As a lifelong member of the Catholic Community, Mrs. Harris shared that she realizes the impact that faith and education can have on our future generations, and she looks forward to serving Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School in this new role. Mrs. Harris holds a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from Felician Catholic University and has worked as an educator at Monsignor Kelly the past thirteen years.
Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School serves students from Beaumont and the surrounding areas in grades 9-12. It is one of five Catholic schools in the Diocese of Beaumont.
